June 2022, Trafalgar Square, London, UK: Last month when the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan came to NYC’s Times Square to promote tourism to his city, he invited NYC VIBE to experience theater in London – So always up for a challenge, we did just that and was on site for the energetic West End Live 2022 musical celebration in the heart of the city where Trafalgar Square was turned into a West End stage as the cast of Lion King, Wicked, Magic Mike Live and others took to the stage to delight the thousands of fans on hand packed into the square.
The weekend long musical theatre event saw the West End community come together, and dozens of shows perform small excerpts to entice audiences to see the full productions.
As well as long-running West End musicals like The Book of Mormon, The Phantom of the Opera, most-loved musicals included such as Lion King, Wicked, Mamma Mia and even Magic Mike aand Come From Away taking part, West End Live 2022 included performances from upcoming London shows over the weekend.
Including performances from some of the nation’s most-loved musicals such as Lion King, Wicked, Mamma Mia and even Magic Mike, Trafalgar Square has become the perfect spot for theatre lovers to catch a glimpse of their favorite shows and soak up the musical talent for free.
West End Live is on its second, and final day, and was set up by Westminster City Council and the Society of London Theatre.
NYC Broadway is legendary while London puts on a speculator performance every night. Mayor Khan has a lot to be proud of.
