A splashy new production is making waves on Broadway. The parody musical "Titanique" officially opened, bringing big laughs, powerhouse vocals, and a uniquely campy twist to one of cinema’s most iconic love stories.

Opening night of Titanique drew a full house, with theatergoers eager to see how the show reimagines the blockbuster film Titanic—through the music of global superstar Celine Dion.

But this isn’t your typical retelling. In Titanique, Dion herself takes center stage as the narrator, guiding audiences through a wildly exaggerated—and often hilarious—version of Jack and Rose’s doomed voyage.

Mike Leventhal was on the blue carpet for opening night and caught with the creator, writer and visionary Marla Mindelle to find out how she pulled this all off.

Packed with hits like “My Heart Will Go On” and “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” the show leans into comedy, improvisation, and over-the-top performances. Fans say it’s equal parts tribute and spoof.

The production has already built a cult following during its earlier runs off-Broadway, and tonight marks its biggest stage yet.

Producers say the goal is simple: give audiences a night of pure entertainment—no life rafts required. It's a musical that turns tragedy into comedy.

Spirited Titanique Opening Night On Broadway

April 2026 - Theater District, NYC:

It was opening night at the Broadhurst Theater on a chilly Sporing night but the energy overtook the weather - Cats has always been stuffed with history. Upon its London premiere in 1981, Gillian Lynne's original choreography made Cats a groundbreaking dance musical, and the original NYC production became the fifth-longest-running Broadway show of all time.

Now, after more than four decades, the reimagined revival Cats: The Jellicle Ball brings a new look, new energy and dance moves that even impress Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Cats: The Jellicle Ball brilliantly expands and recontextualizes the show's history, particularly through the choreography by Arturo Lyons and Omari Wiles. Directed by Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch, this production is set in the world of vogue balls, which originated among LGBTQ+ people of color as safe spaces for competition, community, and self-expression through dance and fashion.

NYC VIBE was on the yellow carpet to talk with the cast, directors and stars and celebrities on hand to enjoy this new interpretation.

The original Cats set its action at a “Jellicle Ball,” in which one cat is chosen to ascend to a new life. Cats: The Jellicle Ball explicitly frames this event as a community gathering and shows how dance is a form of both self-expression and survival. The cats in this revival aren't literal cats, but a small society of people there to both compete for a fresh start and protect each other's lives as they are.

The incident took place around 7PM in the valet area.

Footage from the scene shows him taking videos with fans shortly before the shooting occurred.

He was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital where he is in stable condition.

His representative confirmed he is doing fine and under observation. Police responded immediately and detained two individuals at the scene.

UPDATE:

Rapper Lil Tjay has since been arrested in connection with the shooting. No official motive has been confirmed.

Hyundai Boulder Concept Brazenly Rocks New York in Surprise Global Premiere

The big question was answered at the highly anticipated tenth annual Blue Jacket Fashion Show which took place in New York City - would podcaster Don Lemon attend, as he usually has, and what would he say about his recent arrest.

The 59 year old former journalist was released on his own recognizance without bail on January 30th following his arrest in Los Angeles regarding a January 18th protest at a Minnesota church. Lemon was indicted on federal charges of conspiracy and interfering with religious freedom, which he has vowed to fight the charges, declaring, "I will not be silenced".

The Blue Jacket Fashion Show was founded by fashion designer Frederick Anderson to benefit ZERO Prostate Cancer, with the evening blending the realms of fashion, entertainment, sports, healthcare, and media to address the critical issue of prostate cancer openly.

The guests were happy that Don Lemon overruled his legal advisors and attended even though he decided not to walk in the fashion show

Lemon repeatedly stressed he was not participating in the demonstration, but covering it as a journalist. Yet Vice President JD Vance told a podcaster this week Vance that Lemon’s behavior was “a violation of the law” and that his actions were “not about the First Amendment.”
