July 2026: Well it was just 7 years ago - July of 2019 in Southampton when NYC VIBE caught up with the former New York Mets great centerfielder Carlos Beltran - who was raising funds for his foundation for an important initiative at that time - providing disaster relief from the aftermath of Hurricane Maria - which had literally destroyed his birth home Puerto Rico. Now remember it was the summer of 2019 - and we asked Carlos what his retirement plans would look like… Well it was just months later when the nine time All Star was hired as a first-time manager for the New York Mets. But he was implicated as a player and key participant in the 2017 Houston Astros illicit sign-stealing scheme and forced to step down on January 16, 2020, acknowledging in a statement that he fell short as a leader. So time has passed and it was a wonderful weekend as the three time Golden Glove award winner was included in the National Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2026 - honored in Cooperstown, NY… So that brings us back to Manhattan where NYC VIBE met up with former Met shortstop Jose Reyes who was adamant that Carlos Beltran should be the next New York Mets manager… The Mets state they have not really started the process but with endorsements like this - and that they wanted him back then - this could be a calling sign…

Could Carlos Beltran Be the Next NY Mets Manager?

Sunday July 19, 2026 - Elmhurst, Queens, NY: It's the finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup - and the most exciting location for the Argentinian fans to gather was on Corona Avenue in the Elmhurst section of Queens - known as “Little Argentina.” Once an epicentre of the Argentinian diaspora that settled in New York City, most relocating during the so-called "dirty war" of the 1970s, only a handful of Argentinian restaurants and bakeries remain as a foothold of what once was in the Elmhurst, Queens neighbourhood. But on World Cup finals weekend - there was joy, hope and excitement to join together to cheer on the team they love. So all in all - Spain wins - Argentina holds their heads up high - and life continues for the Argentinian descent in Elmhurst Queens - thinking about returning in four years time…

New York’s “Little Argentina" Hosted a Loud & Energetic Fan Fest

It was the night before the FIFA World Cup Finals and A-list athletes got together at the Sports Illustrated Beyond the Pitch celebration in New York City - Rob Gronkowski became a paparazzi for the night - taking pictures of his girlfriend Camille Kostek. Sports Illustrated Beyond the Pitch - The Night before the FIFA World Cup Finals

July 2026 - East Hampton, NY: Here he is - Bronx born Cuba Gooding Jr. - the recipient of an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and an Emmy nomination celebrating with friends this past weekend at the EHP Resort & Marina for Dan’s Taste’s 5th anniversary of Light Up the Night on the bay at Three Mile Harbor in East Hampton. Guests lined up to greet Cuba congratulating him on the 30th anniversary of the hit movie Jerry McGuire. Cuba Gooding Jr. played Rod Tidwell, an outspoken, undersized wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals. He is the sole remaining client who sticks with sports agent Jerry Maguire played by Tom Cruise) after Jerry gets fired, anchoring the duo's memorable journey. Gooding's electrifying performance earned him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Cuba was joined by a few hundred that came out to enjoy the majestic scenes of the bay, enjoy the food from top chefs from the region and all you can drink. NYC VIBE met with up with Cristiano Rossi - a highly energetic chef from Italy who worked all day to create a few dishes that were highly sought after… Mike Leventhal watched as Michael Miezianka dished out oysters from the Blue Point farm from the Great South Bay….Blue Point oysters are a classic known for its briny, ocean-forward flavor, plump satiny meats, and crisp, clean finish with a mild, sweet aftertaste. Richie Nuzz and his band performed - a singer, trombonist & modern-day crooner redefining jazz as we know it His sound is lush and cinematic - layered with rich brass, soulful rhythm, and heartfelt romance -transporting audiences to a world where elegance meets emotion. The 2026 New York Summer Fancy Food Show takes over NYC

The funeral service for legendary music executive Clive Davis took place at Manhattan’s Central Synagogue in New York City. Davis, the iconic five-time Grammy winner known as "The Man with the Golden Ears," passed away on June 22 at the age of 94 from an age-related illness.   The private, invite-only memorial brought together a massive gathering of music royalty and industry leaders. NYC VIBE cameras were out front to witness a star-studded crowd that included Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Barry Manilow, Ja Rule, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Gayle King, Hoda Kotb, Adrien Brody, and Sony Music Entertainment CEO Rob Stringer. Bruce Springsteen delivered gracious and warm thoughts on stage remembering Davis as "big and bombastic and brave and full of ideas” and made it clear that he was “born to run.” A quite emotional Alicia Keys wept during her remarks, reading a letter thanking Davis for seeing her talent when she was just 15 years old. Musical Performances by the saxophonist Kenny G opened the funeral with a special solo version of "Songbird" followed by Jennifer Hudson offering powerful and meaningful  performances of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” and then Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You". Music’s biggest names were in attendance for Clive Davis’ Funeral

June 2026 - Lower Manhattan, NY: We are looking back at the New York Nicks Championship Parade that brought the city back together - even for a day - with long lasting memories and the hope of a great season ahead. From the plaza at Penn Station at 6 AM to the subways filled with fans pouring out and up the stairs - the City was ready for a long awaited day to celebrate. NYC VIBE spanned out across the parade route and behind City Hall where the floats made a right turn on to Chambers Street for the final photo ops before entering the back pathway to the ceremony on stage. On the route - the more than 10 thousand members of the NYPD had their hands full trying to keep the excited fans on the sidewalks and to enjoy the festivities in a safe manner - but our cameras clearly saw thousands of parade goers either jumping or knocking down the barricades to charge ahead to try and get a better look. Mike Leventhal was behind City Hall on the lookout for VIPs, celebs and former Knick greats. While the mayor did slip by, we saw his wife making a rare public appearance being escorted through the back courtyard. So what was Rama Duwaji actually wearing - The 28 year old visual artist was styled by the 2026 CFDA - Vogue Fashion Fun finalist Claire Sullivan - who said she gathered a few Knicks T-Shirts from street vendors and then sewed it together - along with orange pom pom earrings. Mike caught up with the longtime head coach of the boys varsity basketball team at Benjamin Cardozo High School in Bayside, Queens - Ron Naclerio, who was warmly greeted by many of his former players. Coach Naclerio is a New York basketball legend and holds the record for the most wins of any high school basketball coach in New York State history. Back to the parade - there they were - Jalen, Josh, Mitchell, OG, Towns and Coach Brown, then the die hard celebrities that were always courtside - Timothée Chalamet, Tracy Morgan, Ben Stiller, Mariska Hargitay and others. And of course, the Knicks greats were there too. Walt "Clyde" Frazier and Patrick Ewing — franchise icons — rode the alumni float alongside a who's who of Knicks history: John Starks, Carmelo Anthony, Allan Houston, Larry Johnson, Latrell Sprewell, Amar'e Stoudemire, and Stephon Marbury. Generations of orange and blue, all back home in the Canyon of Heroes to pass the torch to this new band of champions. On the main stage, the mayor handed out keys to the City to each of the players and coaching staff and we heard from Finals MVP Jalen Brunson.
